Jack Kato leads Populous: Fentress Studios’ aviation team in Japan, bringing extensive experience in the design and delivery of major airport infrastructure having worked across Asia, the Middle East and North America. He combines this international expertise with a deep understanding of the local market, enabling him to lead complex projects like the recently completed Kansai International Airport Upgrade. Kato’s design solutions balance operational performance, passenger experience, constructability and commercial objectives. His approach is grounded in a practical understanding of how large-scale aviation projects are planned, delivered and operated. Kato was instrumental in the delivery of the International Arrivals Facility at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and the award-winning 700,000m² Passenger Terminal Complex at Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar. These projects have given him extensive expertise in delivering complex passenger terminal environments that enhance operational efficiency while creating intuitive, high-quality traveler experiences. A LEED accredited professional, Kato is passionate about sustainable design and continually explores innovative, environmentally responsible solutions that support the long-term performance and resilience of aviation infrastructure.
