Andy Davis on Keeping Airport Operations Resilient in Uncertain Times

Andy Davis on Keeping Airport Operations Resilient in Uncertain Times
Acting Chief of Airport Operations | King Salman International Airport

Maintaining safe and reliable airport operations is challenging even under normal circumstances. During periods of geopolitical uncertainty, the pressure on operational teams becomes even greater. Andy Davis joins Passenger Terminal Expo Asia to share lessons from managing major airport operations and preparing for disruption.

Tell us about the scale of the airport operations you currently oversee.

I am involved in a project that is delivering significant new aviation capacity for Riyadh and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In my current role, I lead operations across an airport that already handles more than 40 million passengers a year, coordinating activity across five existing terminals while three additional terminals are being developed.

What encouraged you to join as a Passenger Terminal Expo speaker for the first Asian edition?

I have thoroughly enjoyed both speaking at and attending previous Passenger Terminal Expo events in Europe. Being part of the first Asian edition is particularly exciting because it brings exposure to different airports, cultures and ways of thinking. It is also a fantastic opportunity to meet new colleagues and build relationships across the region.

What is the central focus of your session?

My session will explore how airports can maintain operational resilience during conflict and periods of geopolitical uncertainty. I will look at the planning, decision-making and coordination required to keep operations moving when circumstances change quickly.

Why is resilience such an important subject for airport leaders?

Geopolitical tensions can emerge with little warning and are often difficult to predict. Without robust planning and the benefit of learning from others’ experience, airports can struggle to maintain business continuity and confidence among airlines and passengers. Sharing practical lessons allows the industry to prepare more effectively before a crisis occurs.

What are you most looking forward to in Singapore?

I hope that sharing my experience will help others facing similar operational challenges. I am also very much looking forward to the networking and to learning from colleagues working in different airport environments.

Join Andy Davis at Passenger Terminal Expo Asia for a practical discussion on airport resilience, business continuity and operational leadership during periods of uncertainty.
